Long-time Rhinelander businessman Marv Schumacher passes away - Starjournalnow
May 28, 2019Schumacher is known for his decades of community involvement and with his wife, decades of operating the family business, Forth Floral.Marv was born and raised in Little Chute and following his 1950 graduation from St. John Catholic High School served in the Army as a stenographer and chaplain’s assistant while stationed in Japan.According to his obituary, Marv met Leona Forth on a blind date in 1957 and they were married in 1958. Shortly thereafter the couple moved to Rhinelander to join Leona’s parents in running Forth Floral, Inc. For the next 30 years, Marv and Leona worked to build and continue the family business, first by partnering with Arthur and Julia Forth and then with their daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Henning Hempel.Marv served on the board of the Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce and sang in the Nicolet Male Chorus. He was also active in his church, serving as lector, Eucharistic Minister and parish council member of St. Joseph, then Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, and was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.Marv is survived by his wife, Leona; daughters, Ruth (Henning) Hempel of Rhinelander, Sara (Andy) Schumerth of Green Bay, Mary (Jim) Bloch of Rhinelander and Julie (Dave) Stieber of Wadsworth, Ohio;11 grandchildren, Nils, Max and Annika Hempel, Nick (Julie) Schubach, Leah (Jake) Hustad, Dominic Schumerth, Abby, Matthew and Tessa Bloch and Ted and Ellie Stieber; three great-grandchildren, Milo and Mia Schubach and Olen Hustad; brothers, John (Katie) Schumacher and Jim (Donna) Schumacher; sisters-in-law, Germaine, Marian and Florus; and in-laws, John and Charlotte Krumm.Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday, April 29 at the Hildebrand Funeral Home; praying of the Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will again take place from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, both at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church in Rhinelander.
